Sleep well, chere. Time for tired old men to go to sleep.
A couple of things.
Date: 2004-08-28 03:09 pm (UTC)From:2) There was some radiation contamination when the team got back - Shrio's clothes predominantly, as well as some other equipment. Until we got it cleaned up and disposed of properly, we didn't want people traipsing down here.
3) Medlab has rules for a reason. They may seem unfair or cruel, but you still have to stick to them, for your safety and the safety of the patients you're looking after. If you can't handle that, then perhaps you should reconsider this whole medicine thing.
Now, this broken-down old doctor is catching some sleep after being awake for sixteen hours straight.
Re: A couple of things.
Date: 2004-08-28 06:53 pm (UTC)From:I just...I do want to continue the medical training. And I know the medlab as rules. I wanted to help. I didn't want to hurt anyone, but I heard Rahne was down there, and that hurt. I mean, how come she was and I wasn't? I think I was more upset/worried that I was being pushed aside, I've helped before, just because these are my friends/teachers doesn't mean I can't help now. They're your friends too and you do it.
Go sleep. Delphine wants to play.
It's not always all about you.
Date: 2004-08-28 07:20 pm (UTC)From:It's good that you want to continue your training and want to help, Clarice, it honestly is. But medicine is not a place where the teenage mindset of "so-and-so gets to deal with the injured and I don't! wah!". The medical field is not high school, it is not a popularity contest, it is not your personal proving grounds.
You are not the only student assisting in medlab, and sometimes, you are not going to get tapped. Just like how sometimes, I am not going to get tapped, or Henry is not going to get tapped. The sooner you learn to accept this fact, the better.
You were not stopped from coming down because they didn't want you to help your friends. You were stopped from coming down due to the dangers inherent to you, and because (trust me when I say this) it was insane enough in there already. Any more people in there, and we'd have been falling all over the place and getting extra injuries to worry about.
Re: It's not always all about you.
Date: 2004-08-28 07:32 pm (UTC)From:maybe 'yelling' was the wrong term, but I'm sure you would have if it had been in person.
Popularity contest? you're joking right? I mean, I'm not popular, and I probably never will be. It's not some popularity thing, but if that many people were hurt and it seemed that they were hurt pretty badly and the ONLY reason I wasn't being allowed to help was because they're my friends....this place is too small for that. I'll do the job. But I don't want to be excluded soley for that and that's what I thought. Right or wrong, that's how it came across.
I don't think about hurting myself, only about helping them. I mean...I don't want to be hurt, but that's not really something I think about.
Um...why was Rahne tapped then if it was so dangerous to us? I mean, her powers don't protect her and she's just a student too.
I repeat: not always about you.
Date: 2004-08-28 07:45 pm (UTC)From:No, I'm not joking. But looking back at your complaints that Rahne was tapped and you weren't, it does come off a bit like you're whining about being passed over for somebody else, and again, that mindset has absolutely no place in this line of work. I suggest you grow out of it, and quickly. Right or wrong, that's how it came across.
Start thinking about it. Nobody likes a martyr.
You'd have to ask one of the doctors that one, Clarice. Perhaps her experience and training had her better suited to the situation. Perhaps she was already down here when people came in. Perhaps she doesn't throw temper tantrums and call people "fucking fuckers" every time something goes in a way that displeases her. I don't know. All I know is, your friends are being helped, and as soon as it's safe for you to come down here, you will be allowed to come down here.
In the meantime, take care of Delphine, and work on that maturity thing.
Re: A couple of things.
Date: 2004-08-28 10:50 pm (UTC)From:Something you need to learn, kiddo, about professional distance - yes, they're my friends and yours too, but as soon as I saw this post I knew you were way too emotionally invested to be able to do things properly. Threatening to storm down regardless and calling us fuckers did not earn you brownie points there.
Things are calmer now - how about you come down and help with the clean up?
Re: A couple of things.
Date: 2004-08-29 12:30 am (UTC)From:wasn't calling YOU a fucker. I wouldn't do that. it's kinda my catch word for when I'm not pleased.
and I'll be right down. I'm still sorry.
