School. ugh. homework. double ugh.

and life is returning to what passes for normal here.

and important news:
I talked to my dad last night. their trip was good, mine was better (ha!) and my katana should be here in teh next week or so. Shiro, we have to spar!

back to life...back to reality...

of course not. that's why we practice.

but just testing it, the weight is different and the curve presents interesting problems...

The katana is challenging, surely, but also superior to the rapier. You will agree with me once you learn how to handle it.

Heretic.

The rapier is a gentleman's weapon.

And if you are a gentleman, I will prefer being a boor with a katana.

You said it, not me.

The man's a boor. With a sharpened crowbar of inferior construction.

You _do_ know that they had to fold that thing so many times because the iron in Japan is so very, very poor, right?

Yes, I am well aware of what goes into the construction of a katana. And while the starting materials may not be of the best quality, the end product is certainly a far better weapon than the European excuse for an overgrown kitchen knife.

And a true samurai does not even need a high quality katana like mine to defeat a Westerner. I could win a duel with nothing but a boat oar.

then what is a sabre? b/c I'm not anyone's definition of a gentleMAN.

*sighs* Idiot child.

The sabre is for folks who can't take their swordplay straight up. People with Japanese-crowbar envy.

the sabre is for people who like finesse and a slash & grab. which makes perfect sense to me, dolt.

and I will have a Japanese 'crowbar' as you so kindly put it. guess I'm moving up in the world...if your rules mattered to me.

I prefer rapier and dagger myself. Elegant, refined, and very, very deadly.

As soon as I get my idiot body back into fighting form, I will cross swords with you. I've never fought a woman before - it could be very interesting.
