why is it that everyone seems to hate Piotr and not Pete? I'm not saying people should hate Pete, but he kinda brought those baddies here 2 weeks ago and Piotr made a mistake in his past too. And no one stormed the school for it. I don't see why he is being villanized.

yeah...he was rude to Amanda, but so many people have been mean to him, he wasn't trying to be so mean to her, her comment was the straw that broke the camels back or whatever.

so, can people calm down, start apologizing and being nice again? please? I want all my friends to stop fighting.

In Mr. Rasputin's defense

If he's a staff member, you students ought to be giving him the deference and respect due a staff member. Same goes for any of the staff, be it Wisdom, Miss Blaire, Miss D'Ancato, or even Summers. While that doesn't excuse him getting into a "who's really the queen bitch here?" contest with a student, it should garner him a little bit of respect.

That being said, I'll say again one of my previous statements - if you're going to make a wisecrack or admit to something that the teachers are going to get all pissed off at, at least have the brains to do it where they're not looking over your shoulder.

If we're talking about mistakes made that brought danger to the school and you students, then yeah, both Wisdom and Rasputin screwed up, and they're making good on it. If you've got a problem trusting them - they've earned that and should have to prove themselves to you.

But you don't have to make their road to do that any harder than it is. Enough of your peers have screwed up on a pretty big level, and both the faculty and student body have been MORE than accepting of their bonehead choices, and been willing to forgive. You kids want to be treated like grown-ups? Then give them the same courtesy you'd give your own peers.

Mr. Marko? In our defense, Piotr is listed as a student and using the student journals, and on the student floor.

If he wants to be treated like someone deserving of respect, he should act the part and not start fights so close to the house that someone could get hurt.

Yeah, that's kind of confusing me as well. When I went to school, you didn't pal around with your teachers or call them by their first name or anything like that. There was a definite line of authority there, and everyone knew where it was.

Things are different here, it seems. And that might be the problem. With the exception of some smartasses who think they know better than everyone else, no one gives Miss Munroe or Summers crap about how they do things. But because Rasputin was one of you guys just a while ago, you still treat him like a peer instead of an authority figure.

It's my understanding that's why the staff and students are separated on different floors in the dorm. Now, I ain't saying you can't be friends with the teachers - that's apparently standard operating procedure here. But you've got to have that different level of respect than you have for your peers, you know? Respect their authority.

Granted - I'll agree that Rasputin overstepped his bounds, and owes whatsername, the giddy chick an apology. But it's not any of you students' place to take him to task for it. You can like or dislike him all you want, but it's not your place to try and hand down discipline.

This is part of why I am so confused.

Piotr teaches art. But he lives on the student floor. is he a teacher or student!? We've been friends and he has never said "you must call me Mr. Rasputin" or anything. We're going to a concert next month (I think. I hope) and we hang out and all that. I thought he was a student. Then classes started and he was teaching art...and is he magically a teacher now or what?

I know he is my friend regardless.

If you ask me, art ain't really a class, so calling him a "teacher" is a bit much. Nevertheless, he's an adult in the mansion, and ought to both act like one and be treated like one. If you're going to treat him all buddy-buddy like you do your roommates and friends, then you shouldn't hold him to a higher standard is all I'm saying.

I said to Shinobi that I didn't think he was gutter trash. I did not say he was a role model.

Eddie Vedder is a role model, not my friends.

Eddie Vedder is a whiny rock star, not a role model!

Rock stars are not role models!

he took on ticketmaster to stop their monopoly on the ticket industry, he has campaigned for many human rights causes and political leaders.

I did not say Pearl Jam was a role model. I said Eddie Vedder was. and if you ever look into him as a person, he never wanted to be a rock star, only to play music and be active in causes he believes in. he rarely gives interviews and refuses to do music videos.

I am not going to dignify this with an arguement.

So, he's not an adult, and shouldn't be teaching. I agree with you.

That means I can still yell at him and agree that he is a pillock. Thank you.

Call him whatever you want. Just have the common sense to know the difference between venting and sticking a broom handle in the hornets' nest. If you take a swing at someone, verbally or physically, expect them to swing back, and probably harder.

I expected no less than to be insulted back.

If Piotr runs away when teenagers tell him he is being mean and stupid, what will happen when someone tells him he is a freak for being a mutant?

Valid points all, sir, and I agree with them.

While 'he's her teacher' may be the example I, at least, am using most, I'm mostly upset because this man is supposed to be an X-Man. I was under the impression that they were the best and brightest, the pinnacle of what this school can achieve. I hesitate to use the word 'heroes', but there you are, I used it anyway.

I didn't know the XMen had a code of conduct?

besides, when they go out and 'defend humanity' they cause more people to hate us at the same time!

Heroes? Feh. More like leather-wrapped wannabe tough guys playing a game of soldiers that's going to get them all killed one day. If that's what some of you kids are aspiring to be, I hope someone's at least offering an alternative career path.

Hell, they let that short little psychopath with the bad haircut call himself an X-Man. If that don't tell you something about admission standards, I don't know what will. Apparently having a life-or-death knife fight with another teacher in front of the students isn't as bad as calling one of the kids a tramp.

In my defense, I'd have been up in arms over the 'knife fight' as well, if I had seen it. I know for a fact I'm not very comfortable around one of the parties involved anymore, for associated reasons.

This situation in particular does, however, hit a bit closer to home for me. Quite a bit closer. I dealt with verbal abuse at home and had noone to stand up for me, so.. I'm standing up for her.

While my first response would be "develop a thicker skin", I know that ain't the way they're teaching you kids to deal with stuff, so I'll keep my non-psychology-studying opinions to myself there.

But if you want an impartial opinion - Rasputin was being a whiner, Sefton was a sarcastic bitch, and so Rasputin took it upon himself to one-up her, and that's where the offense seems to be taken.

So if *I* were in charge, Sefton'd be washing dishes for another week, and Rasputin would be right there in the sink with her. But like I said - I ain't the one what sets policy around here.

I agree completely.

Including the part about growing a thicker skin. I'm working on it.

It'd make things so much easier if you could be a little less awful about the whole X-Men thing. I never wanted to be anyone's hero, not that way. I'd rather be celebrated for making people's lives better, not over. We don't make a big deal about what we do, but we do try damn hard. And sometimes, we do a good job.

We're human too, Shinobi. We fuck up and we get hurt, we get our feelings hurt. Sometimes we act in ways we're not proud of. Piotr's been a damn good team member. Him having a hard time doesn't negate that. I hope he comes back so this can get cleared up.

Being on the team was never about best-and-brightest for me anyway. It was more about what I have, or don't have, to lose, and what I'm doing with what's left.
