why is it that everyone seems to hate Piotr and not Pete? I'm not saying people should hate Pete, but he kinda brought those baddies here 2 weeks ago and Piotr made a mistake in his past too. And no one stormed the school for it. I don't see why he is being villanized.
yeah...he was rude to Amanda, but so many people have been mean to him, he wasn't trying to be so mean to her, her comment was the straw that broke the camels back or whatever.
so, can people calm down, start apologizing and being nice again? please? I want all my friends to stop fighting.

In Mr. Rasputin's defense
Date: 2004-02-09 11:20 am (UTC)From:That being said, I'll say again one of my previous statements - if you're going to make a wisecrack or admit to something that the teachers are going to get all pissed off at, at least have the brains to do it where they're not looking over your shoulder.
If we're talking about mistakes made that brought danger to the school and you students, then yeah, both Wisdom and Rasputin screwed up, and they're making good on it. If you've got a problem trusting them - they've earned that and should have to prove themselves to you.
But you don't have to make their road to do that any harder than it is. Enough of your peers have screwed up on a pretty big level, and both the faculty and student body have been MORE than accepting of their bonehead choices, and been willing to forgive. You kids want to be treated like grown-ups? Then give them the same courtesy you'd give your own peers.

Re: ...
Date: 2004-02-09 11:34 am (UTC)From:Things are different here, it seems. And that might be the problem. With the exception of some smartasses who think they know better than everyone else, no one gives Miss Munroe or Summers crap about how they do things. But because Rasputin was one of you guys just a while ago, you still treat him like a peer instead of an authority figure.
It's my understanding that's why the staff and students are separated on different floors in the dorm. Now, I ain't saying you can't be friends with the teachers - that's apparently standard operating procedure here. But you've got to have that different level of respect than you have for your peers, you know? Respect their authority.
Granted - I'll agree that Rasputin overstepped his bounds, and owes whatsername, the giddy chick an apology. But it's not any of you students' place to take him to task for it. You can like or dislike him all you want, but it's not your place to try and hand down discipline.

Date: 2004-02-09 11:39 am (UTC)From:Piotr teaches art. But he lives on the student floor. is he a teacher or student!? We've been friends and he has never said "you must call me Mr. Rasputin" or anything. We're going to a concert next month (I think. I hope) and we hang out and all that. I thought he was a student. Then classes started and he was teaching art...and is he magically a teacher now or what?
I know he is my friend regardless.

Re: ...
Date: 2004-02-09 12:00 pm (UTC)From:I did not say Pearl Jam was a role model. I said Eddie Vedder was. and if you ever look into him as a person, he never wanted to be a rock star, only to play music and be active in causes he believes in. he rarely gives interviews and refuses to do music videos.

I was under the impression that they were the best and brightest, the pinnacle of what this school can achieve. I hesitate to use the word 'heroes', but there you are, I used it anyway.

Re: In Mr. Rasputin's defense
Date: 2004-02-09 11:38 am (UTC)From:Hell, they let that short little psychopath with the bad haircut call himself an X-Man. If that don't tell you something about admission standards, I don't know what will. Apparently having a life-or-death knife fight with another teacher in front of the students isn't as bad as calling one of the kids a tramp.

Re: In Mr. Rasputin's defense
Date: 2004-02-09 11:48 am (UTC)From:But if you want an impartial opinion - Rasputin was being a whiner, Sefton was a sarcastic bitch, and so Rasputin took it upon himself to one-up her, and that's where the offense seems to be taken.
So if *I* were in charge, Sefton'd be washing dishes for another week, and Rasputin would be right there in the sink with her. But like I said - I ain't the one what sets policy around here.
